Kelly spent 5 years as Deputy Director of Programmes and Head of Popular Factual at Channel 4, where she was responsible for a huge slate, ranging from The Great British Bake Off to Celebrity Gogglebox, The Circle, Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds, and Joe Lycett’s Got Your Back. During her time at C4, Kelly spotted and grew a roster of new talent including Mo Gilligan and Sophie Willan, as well as managing and nurturing some of the channel’s biggest names such as Sandi Toksvig, Ashley Banjo, and Emma Willis. In her final year, she ran and delivered the Black to Front Project, the channel’s most radical diversity programme in its history.
Prior to Channel 4, Kelly was Managing Director of Shine TV, where she created, sold and launched the BAFTA and RTS award-winning The Island with Bear Grylls, as well as Hunted, for Channel 4. In her early career Kelly was Series Editor of The Apprentice (during the Katie Hopkins years), exec-ed Mary Queen of Charity Shops and Gordon Ramsay’s Cookalong Live, and cut her teeth on the great early formats such as Back to the Floor.
